In High Spirits!

It's the last day of Spring Break for me and I am at home in St. Louis at my Mom and Dad's house recovering from my recent eye surgery. On March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) I had surgery in my right eye to repair a severe retinal tear and detachment that I had developed. It took 3 hours and was done at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO. The physician/surgeon said, " The surgery couldn't have gone smoother!" Although I am feeling a lot better now, it will be about 6 weeks before I can really get back to my normal routine again. There is a gas bubble in my eye, and until that is absorbed I won't know the true state of my vision. Sounds pretty bad, but I am just glad that if it had to happen, it happened now. I have been planning to study abroad in London for a long time now, and have plans to leave for Europe on July 1. Had the surgery happened closer to that date I wouldn't have been able to fly. The gas bubble could become depressureized in the airplane causing more damage. All I can truly say is, " Thank God!"
